The Mahogany Project, Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit in Houston, TX aiming to reduce social isolation, stigma, and acts of injustice in TQLGB+ communities. We raise awareness and advocate for the expansion of social, health, and education services that are inclusive of all. We educate local communities on how to navigate resources and bring them back to their community—at the same time, coordinating social and educational activities to improve, impact, and engage with the community members.
Executive Intern
We are thrilled to offer an Executive Internship program, an on-site experience that gives young adults a golden opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant and dynamic ecosystem of nonprofit leadership, focusing on TQLGB+ liberation, community organizing, and civic engagement. Drag Legacy Curator Intern
Join The Mahogany Project’s Hands Off Our Drag initiative as a Drag Legacy Curator Intern. This unique role combines historical archiving, storytelling, and community engagement to preserve and celebrate the artistry, resilience, and culture of Texas Drag, particularly its Black transgender and queer roots.
Collaborate with a creative team of designers, photographers, and videographers to craft narratives and digital content while engaging with Houston's drag and entertainment community.
Gender Justice & Joy Outreach Intern

Become an intern for The Mahogany Project in the Gender Justice & Joy Outreach position, a dynamic hybrid role intended for those eager to effectuate meaningful change in Black TQLGBIA+ communities.
This internship integrates the dynamism of street outreach and pop-up event organization with behind-the-scenes preparation, providing a comprehensive experience in community activism.
Mental Health & Wellness Navigator Intern
The Mahogany Project’s Odyssey Initiative is seeking a Mental Health and Wellness Navigator Intern to support community members in accessing affirming mental health and wellness services.
This role is designed for a passionate advocate who is eager to bridge the gap between mental health resources and Black TQLGBIA+ communities, with a focus on holistic well-being, advocacy, and accessibility.
